Super Secret Exercise Tips for People with Arthritis
People with arthritis should exercise … but they need to keep some valuable information in mind. Here are some important tips to follow:
1. Make sure you warm up. Warming up increases blood flow and helps muscles loosen up. Five minutes of simple walking or riding a stationary bike will do it.
2. Stretching improves flexibility which helps a patient prepare for aerobic activity. Stretching the hamstrings and quadriceps muscles is important.
3. Start out easy. If you exercise too hard you switch from aerobic to anaerobic activity. This can lead to potentially painful and dangerous injury. To determine where you need to be, find your target heart rate by subtracting your age from 220, then aim for 40 to 70% of that rate.
4. You need to push a bit. Make sure you are working inside the 40 to 70% range to improve energy, lose weight, and build muscle. If you push too hard you’ll be in a lot of pain and may need to back off a bit.
5. Do not eat within two hours of exercising. Digestion causes blood flow to go to the gut instead of the muscles. This could cause abdominal cramps and nausea.
6. Make sure you don’t overdo it. When lifting weights, the temptation is to push too hard. If you are lifting the proper amount of weight you will feel fatigue by the 15th repetition. When you find that a certain weight becomes too easy, go up a bit in weight. Weight training helps improve stamina, energy, and strength.
7. Cool down properly. Stretch, breathe deeply, and don’t stop abruptly. You may even want to ice down areas prone to injury.
8. Drink plenty of water. The rule of thumb is drinking 8 ounces of water for every fifteen minutes of exercise. After you’re done, drink more. Proper water intake will help with your cool down, circulation, and injury prevention.
9. If you’re using a stair climber or elliptical machine, the temptation is to lean on the arm rests. This could lead to bad posture and low back problems. Stand straight.
10. Use proper form. Improper form leads to injury.
11. If you hurt, skip your exercise that day. Trying to work through the pain may lead to injury. You may notice some muscle soreness the day after a good workout. The soreness should not last longer than a day or two.
12. Consider seeing a physical therapist prior to starting an exercise program. They can give you a set of “do’s and don’ts”.
13. “Custom fit” your exercise. For instance, if you have bad shoulders, then swimming is probably not the right exercise for you. Consider biking or walking. On the other hand, if you have bad knees, swimming might be better for you than walking. Avoid rowing if you have a bad back.

Don't Starve Yourself - Loose Weight Sensibly
One can lose weight by hook or by crook there are hundreds of articles, products, gadgets that propose various methods and techniques by which any person can lose weight. Before going to adopt any of the methods of reducing weight one must analyze the cause of obesity. Such as age, sex, heredity, place, geographical region, type of food eaten, quantity of food eaten, ambient temperature, energy utilized or remaining surplus and countless other factors or combination thereof which can be sited as basis of obesity.
The universal truth remains that "intake is not equal to output or vice versa" in simple words the amount that is consumed is not equivalent to the energy expended or adequate energy has not be used in proportion to the amount that has been eaten. A very suitable example is of a person who is obese but eats very less the answer is very simple though the persons calorie intake is less but his expenditure of energy is even less thus anything remaining above the daily requirement is converted into fat. Mind you fat is not bad only excessive fat is. Next is the geographical area one lives in and type of food intake in these regions to maintain body temperature and the rate at which energy that is released by the food intake, we will not go into calculations as there are people to take care of that. In plain language in cold regions requirement of energy is fast and more whereas in warmer climates it is slow and less the reason why consumption of alcohol and sherbets is prevalent in respective areas further a protein dominant diet in colder regions and more carbohydrate dependent diet are rule of the nature. Thirdly is the amount one can eat and the clothing worn, the food intake of our body is regulated by outer environment in terms ambient temperature, activity of person and type of clothing worn accordingly in colder climes protein, woolens where as carbohydrates and cottons are prevalent in warmer areas.
Fourthly is the physical state and the condition of our body meaning the type of life sedentary or active style of life for example when trying to regulate people undertake a vigorous regime of exercise as well this starts a vicious cycle as extra activity demands more energy resulting in those pangs of hunger. Then we come to the final state of our stomach called appetite which is used to the feeling of certain amount of food inside resulting in sense of fullness and satisfaction absence of which results in craving or hunger is a measure of fiber both soluble or otherwise the reason for turning obese now and then. Recounting from above firstly energy in & out, secondly climatic region, thirdly environment around, fourthly physical activity and fifthly appetite are main factors amounting to the bio mass of one's body. Thus finally we come to the question of as to how do we set about controlling our bio mass and yet lead a healthy & enjoyable life. The plan is lay a common denominator by choosing between Active or Moderate type of life style
Alternative One Active Style wherein you exercise, physical games and are outdoor type, keep the activity and fiber intake or any other supplement as denominator and eat drink freak out on clothes, to be more precise enjoy life but regulate yourself with adequate amount of exercise and intake of fiber. Alternative Two the Moderate Style herein one takes food and drinks judiciously and is taken as common denominator and balances with amount of exercise and food supplements. In other words lead a moderate and regulated life. Finally you if care two hoot about everything bash on regardless but please take some add on supplements as a piece of advice. Farewell and long live

Smart Weight Loss Solutions
These days the increase in saturated fats, not getting enough fiber, and the usage of refined sugar in many foods has played a significant role in the amount of obese people in society.
Things that cause metabolism to slow down are age, genetics, and overeating. It becomes more difficult as a result to burn the calories consumed during the day.
Calorie intake, gender, age, lifestyle, weight, health, level of stress and daily routine deciding factor in whether weight is lost or gained. Being overweight to an extent is not unhealthy it really comes down to how you feel about yourself and the situation.
Studies have indicated that people who have some extra weight live slightly longer than those with average weight.
No such thing exists such as magic pills or drinks for weight loss, so don't be fooled by all the crazy advertisements in the media these days. You should avoid loosing too much weight too fast because it could lead to health and quality of life issues.
There are natural supplements that can help in addition to reasonable amounts of exercise and healthy diet plan.
The diet plan that you choose to follow should have the foods that are right for you. The diet should not leave you wanting more food when you have eaten all 3 or 4 meals allowed per day. It also should include vitamins and nutrients that a person needs. You must make sure that you eat fruits and vegetables which contain a good amount of fiber.
Most diet plans are designed to reduce the amount of calories and carbs that you take into the body daily. It is not necessary to reduce the amount of food you eat. You can do it by eating certain foods at certain times. This is possible to do without having to eat less.
Everyone is different and you may have to experiment and see what works best for you. Generally a healthy diet program and exercise will help you loose the weight.

Acai, The Best Berry for Health and Beauty
Acai for Health, Beauty, and the Rainforests
With all the press that Acai is getting these days, I'm surprised that so few know what it is. I'm hoping that I'll help spread the word, because the little purple berries are antioxidant powerhouses offering amazing benefits to human bodies.
An Amazing Health Food
Acai has far too many health benefits to be ignored. The purple pulp has and continues to be studied for its high levels of phytochemicals, flavonoids, and phytosterols. The phytosterols in Acai are beneficial for lowering cholesterol. High levels of the antioxidant superoxide add to the benefits, not to mention the 19 amino acids it contains. The antioxidant levels of the nut like seed are being studied for use as a preservative to extend the shelf life of foods.
I know, enough of all these crazy words...what does this translate to? Basically, this is a food with higher antioxidant levels than pomegranate or blueberries that has high fiber, a low glycemic index (won't spike insulin levels), and fights cancer cells with a vengeance in the petri dish. All those plant chemicals mentioned above help to strengthen the immune system, fight inflammation (which makes it excellent for a pain management program),and lower cholesterol levels. Acai is considered a beauty drink, and made it to number one of Dr. Nicholas Perricone's anti-aging food list. It is also reputed to enhance sexual performance :O
I tried Acai before I even knew of the health benefits. I found it along with all the frozen smoothie packs in my local Whole Foods Market. It has a flavor that I have not experienced before, that I really adore, though I tend to have less of a sweet tooth than most folks.
OK, So How Does it Taste?
The taste is kind of a blend between chocolate and bland blueberries. It has some notes of sweeter blackberries, I guess since they contain many of the same phyto compounds. Acai doesn't have an over the top fruity taste, and is honestly kind of bland without any sweetener. It often comes with added cane sugar or agave, a natural sweetener with low glycmeic index. Some formulas include guarana for energy, which I think adds a slight bitter edge, but it is still in the pleasant range. Be aware that Acai drinks often do not look remotely similar to anything you've seen before. The pure pulp is blackish purple, and the blends with sweeteners and guarana have a lighter, whiter purpleness with a haze of oil on top. Don't let my honest descriptions keep you from trying it, it is a refreshing change of taste.
If you decide you hate the taste, you can still experience the health benefits of Acai by buying the dried, powdered version as a supplement pill, just make sure to seek out the freeze dried pulp, anything else has been dried with chemicals and heat that destroys the compounds you're taking the stuff for in the first place!
So there are several camps selling the Acai in the states right now, and my kudos to all of them. You'll just have to go to a health food store or one of the Whole Foods chains to find it. Trader Joe's may be another option, and some companies sell directly over the net. A brand called Sambazon hails from California, and they make the cool smoothie packs. You can buy the pure pulp, or the blend. I'm sure the other companies have smoothie packs as well. The company from the Eastern U.S., Flavor Brazil, makes this amazing sorbet that can be used in smoothies or devoured right out of the tub. This product has excellent flavor for those used to more mainstream foods. You'll find these forms of Acai in the frozen fruit section of the store. Zola Acai sells off the net and in stores, their product is unique in that it is flash pasteurizeed and needs no refrigeration. A friend of mine that does research assured me the flash pasteurization doesn't allow enough long term heat to affect the integrity of the Acai. There is a brand that is a strained, clearer juice that tastes awful - not worth the money in my opinion, and you lose the benefits of the fiber. I'm sure there are a host of many other Acai products, I mentioned those I have tried.
After trying many forms of the Acai, I buy the pure Acai pulp now; they run about $4.99 for 4 packs that can make up to 8 servings. I sweeten with agave nectar, it gives the pulp a pleasant taste. The pure pulp has just that - a lot of pulp, similar to drinking fresh squeezed orange juice... you can feel the fibers as you drink it. Agave nectar is processed in Mexico from the same yucca-like plant used to make tequila.
Agave has a lower glycemic index than most carbohydrates, and is a natural flavor enhancer. You can find the nectar in the sweetener aisle in the Whole Foods, or health foods stores.
The Berry at Home
Acai is the fruit of a species of palm tree called Euterpe Oleracea, or Acai Palm. These beautiful trees with their graceful, slender trunks are native to Brazil, Peru, and other areas of South America. This is the same type of palm harvested for the hearts of palm dish that is considered a delicacy, but certainly at the expense of the rain forest, since the small, bunch like trees are downed to reap their tender tips.
The Acai berry looks similar to a very round blueberry, only slightly larger. There is very little fruit, as most of the berry (80%) consists of a large, nut like seed. It is the skin and thin layer of pulp that is edible, and it takes many bushels to make a small supply of Acai. The berries spoil rapidly once picked, so they are processed close to their origin.
Adding Acai to your wellness routine is not just good for you, it benefits the rain forest and its native peoples as well. The growing demand for Acai means jobs and capitol for the people, and Acai palms destined for destruction by deforestation and heart of palm harvesting are now being preserved and appreciated. Acai is not one of the cheapest foods you will consume, but the benefits to your health, beauty, your fellow man and the planet far outweigh the costs. Enjoy!

If you want to get rid of junk from your trunk, try walking or jogging uphill for a minimum of twenty minutes every single day. If you can't do this outside, use an inclined treadmill instead. Set the treadmill for at least fifteen degrees. That's a good starting point. Then work toward twenty degrees and beyond. You don't have to do this exercise in bursts. This is not interval training. All you need to do is walk or jog on the incline. That's it.

If you have heard that you can't spot reduce fat, you have heard wrong. And this tactic will prove it to you. The best time to do this is after meals, but you can also do it first thing in the morning or just before bed. All you have to do is lie on your back and rub your belly in circles. Use your right hand for about a minute, then switch hands and do it for another minute. That's all there is about it.
If you commit to doing this, over time the friction provided by the hands contacting the stomach will loosen the pockets of fat in your belly.
If you want to step this up a notch, quickly rub your hands together for about fifteen seconds prior to rubbing your belly. The heat from your hands will help to break up the fat that much quicker.
